Abstract
Enhancement of data rates or throughputs is one of the major goals of the future generation wireless communication networks.
Interference minimization is one of the key techniques used for boosting user throughputs.
In Time Division Duplex (TDD) systems, the temporal relationship (the relative timing difference) between the frames of the cells can be utilized to minimize interference.
In this work, we employ a frame offset parameter to control interference in TDD systems.
We investigate the impact of this dynamic offset on system utility and expected throughput.
We use Monte Carlo method of simulation in this study to maximize three utility functions through exhaustive search over different frame offset alternatives.
We initially carry out investigation in a three-cell system and then finally we investigate in a Femto cellular type office indoor network.
We also derive a mathematical criterion and investigate the possibility of a self-organizing scheme.
We show that with a low density of users, a deliberate frame offset between TDD frames improves the expected throughput of the nodes.
In addition, we show that applying dynamic frame offset increases system fairness.
